Description: Trevor Burger is a second-generation knifemaker following in the steps of his father, Fred Burger. He has an eye for detail. Trevor's knives have exceptionally smooth action and clean, no-nonsense designs. This custom Dakar Signature Flipper is a full-size folder with a streamlined design and immaculate fit and finish.
The blade is made from high performing stainless damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. The high contrast pattern is immediately captivating and complements the bolsters nicely. The blade runs on an IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. Trevor created this Dakar Signature Flipper with ceramic ball bearings. Generally IKBS bearings are made either from tool steel or from stainless steel. Stainless steel can wear away, resulting in uneven action over time. Tool steel bearings can oxidize making the action rough. Ceramic bearings are the best of all worlds: extremely hard and wear resistant, they are also inert and will not oxidize. The blade has silky-smooth action and is easily opened single-handed using the flipper tab. It is perfectly centered.
The handle is made from presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood that has been nicely domed and polished. The scales meet perfectly with titanium bolsters in a perfectly fit S-curve. The bolsters are meticulously engraved by Julien Marchal. Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium and now lives in South Africa. The floral scroll engraving shows his tremendous attention to detail and elegant designs. Titanium liners are hand fileworked and anodized blue. Jimping along the liners provides a solid purchase. The 3D machined Damasteel pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
