Description: Mastersmith Harvey Dean's eye for design and style shine through his work. I was very excited when I heard that he had begun to make straight razors a few years ago and even more so when I finally got to see his work. He has spent the last two years refining his razors -- and using them himself. He was very lucky to be able to get advice from renowned straight razor maker, Tim Zowada.
The 11/16th" blade was forged from V-Toku2 san mai carbon steel. The high performing carbon steel is laminated between layers of 410 stainless steel. This provides an ultra-high performing edge with rust resistance along the spine and upper half of the razor. When asked what he thought of V-Toku2, Dean said, "You can tell an immediate difference between VToko2 and other steels I have used. It just shaves smoother." This is among the first straight razors made by Dean using V-Toku 2 and the results are amazing. The steel was brought to 62-63 Hrc for a particularly long lasting edge. This razor has a French point.
Handle scales were made from Texas Prairie Fire acrylic made by Terry Dunn. The resilient material is beautiful and will hold up well to the heavy demands of daily use.
This is an absolutely spectacular custom straight razor.
