Description: Mastersmith Bill Burke creates knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. He is best known for his sheep horn hunting knives and chef's knives. Here, he has put his hands to an exquisitely elegant folder.
The blade is formed from Bill's River of Fire pattern damascus. This complex pattern was forged to shape from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. The pattern displays a winding river of fire moving through the blade. This is a pattern that Bill developed and has become one of the hallmarks of his career. The blade is perfectly centered with smooth, consistent action and a firm half stop. The clip pint blade is high contrast and has a nice swedge. The spine is satin finished.
The scales are muskox boss which has been caramelized and highly polished. Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic mammal of the family Bovidae. Muskoxen primarily live in Arctic North America and Greenland, with small populations in Sweden, Siberia and Norway. The world population is estimated at between 80,000 and 125,000. Muskox horn is among the rarest (and most beautiful) handle materials used by knifemakers today. The scales are perfectly fit to the 416 front and rear bolsters and are secured with stainless pins.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
