Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. Thorburn is a master of the IKBS pivot and this folder has among the best action you will ever find.
The blade is formed from N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Jimping on the thumb ramp ensures a secure purchase. The flipper allows for a very smooth and fast blade deployment. Blue/silver carbon fiber scales are rounded for comfort and the handle fills out the hand perfectly. They nicely complement blue tones in the differentially anodized Zirconium bolsters.
Zirconium bolsters are inlaid with fine silver and engraved by Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium and now lives in South Africa. The scroll engraving and silver inlay shows his tremendous attention to detail and elegant designs. The handle is completed with red spacers and blue anodized titanium liners. A black G-10 backbar keeps the knife light and fast. A machined titanium pocket clip holds a ceramic retention ball and is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout!
