Description: Bill Burke, who was honored as a Mastersmith June 2006, makes knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. He is best known for his sheep horn hunting knives and chef's knives, though he has been finding tremendous inspiration in his slip joint folders over the past couple years. Recently he spent some time with renowned slip joint folder maker Bill Ruple and this has brought his slip joints to a new level. This Stag Trapper shows Bill Burke's skill and accomplishments at their best.
The clip point blade on this Trapper is formed from stainless damascus forged by Burke. Very few makers create their own stainless damascus -- it is an extremely daunting task and shows a tremendous understanding of metallurgy. Bill combined AEB-L and 304 stainless steels. The high contrast, low care stainless damascus blade is immediately captivating.
Stag scales are perfectly fit to the 416 stainless steel front and rear bolsters. The action is smooth and the blade perfectly centered with a firm half stop.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
