Description: Bill Burke, who was honored as a Master Smith June 2008, is best known for creating some of the best hunting knives that can be found anywhere. This utility knife is equally suited to use in the field as a small hunter as it is for everyday carry -- or even a treasured knife in any collection.
The 52100 carbon steel blade was triple quenched and triple tempered for grain refinement and optimal edge holding and has a hand-rubbed satin finish. The heat treatment followed the formulas developed by Burke in conjunction with Mastersmith Ed Fowler and creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. Many makers and collectors feel that 52100 is among the best steels available for knifemaking. A differential heat treatment ensures strength and durability. Both the blade and tang are distal tapered for perfect balance.
The bolster is formed from mokume that Bill forged from nickel, copper and brass. The bolster meets seamlessly with the stag scales. The scales are nicely shaped for a comfortable, secure grip and are secured with hidden bolt rivets. The knife is accompanied by a sturdy Kydex sheath that is sure to keep this knife at the ready when not on display.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
