Description: Anders Hogstrom has a precision to his work that is exceptional and immediately captivating. He succeeds at combining influences from his native Sweden with Japanese elements developed during his apprenticeship with Scott Slobodian. This cloak dagger shows off his work at its best.
The 1050 carbon steel blade features a differential heat treatment line called a hamon. This is created by coating the central spine of the dagger blade with clay prior to heat treatment. The central section remains softer and supportive, while the edge is extremely hard and will have superior edge holding. The copper pin, guard and habaki are textured and antiqued for an heirloom appearance. The jet black ebony wood is nicely offset by the central copper pin, which is domed and counter sunk.
The wooden sheath is formed from presentation grade desert eucalyptus burl and features copper details.
Exceptional work throughout!
