Description: This is among the most elegant folders created by Andre Thorburn to date. It combines stainless damascus scales and blade with 24kt gold inlay by Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal. Julien studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium.
The clip point blade features a long swedge. It is hollow ground for easy maintenance. By mirror polishing the flats, the pattern nearly disappears into this mirrored area, emphasizing Andre's clean, dramatic grinds.
The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action. It features an opening system called a front flipper opening. This modification on a flipper opening is tremendously easy to use and does not catch when stored in the pocket. When combined with the IKBS ball bearing system, the action is exceptional! The Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) was originally designed to fit balisong knives and uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This is as smooth as a knife gets!
The stainless damascus handle is nicely domed for a comfortable grip. Each scale is meticulously inlaid with 24kt gold spirals travelling across the steel. The pivot, backspacer and screws are stainless steel. Differentially anodized titanium liners are hand fileworked. Attention to detail has been paid throughout this knife, with the fit and finish exceptional.
