Description: Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson's knives have always inspired me. There is a gentlemanly elegance to his work that matches his personality. Silver vines are inlaid into presentation grade curly maple. The depth of the wood is evident, giving an heirloom quality to this exceptional Jay Hendrickson clip point hunter. The contoured maple feels great in hand -- swelling to meet the palm.
Jay began by forging the 1084 carbon steel blade to shape. The appleseed grind is a hallmark of Jay's hand forged knives. It provides a high performing, long lasting edge with plenty of strength behind it. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade, showing the transition between soft, supportive spine and the keen, long lasting edge. Jay Hendrickson believes strongly in the hand forging process and it clearly shows in his work. By forging the blade to shape, Jay ensures optimal edge retention.
This knife is accompanied by an extremely nice hand tooled, high quality brown leather sheath. The handle tooled and raised leather is set over basswood liners and topped with a German silver throat.
This is a tremendous knife -- perfect for serious use or presentation.
