Description: Swedish knifemaker Roger Bergh created the knife which many of us now think of as the Swedish Hunter. This exquisite example of his work has been in a single private collection since it was made by Roger back in 2001. It has never been used to cut and has not been sharpened since Roger made it. By all appearances, Roger could have made it yesterday.
Roger began by forging the dramatic damascus blade. The blade combines 3 separate bars of twist pattern damascus, set in opposing directions. By hollow grinding the blade, Roger revealed the stars hidden within the pattern.
Roger's work on his handles has always set him apart -- his ability to find rare and exciting materials continues to draw my attention. Here, jet black buffalo horn is combined with presentation grade sallow root burl. The handle is sculpted with both comfort and dramatic appearance in mind.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish sheath. The lower part of the sheath reflects the handle, and combines jet black buffalo horn with sallow root burl. The upper is hand tooled leather. Exceptional work throughout!
