Description: The Heavin Forge team, led by Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey, make exceptional knives and this elegant dagger is a dramatic example of their work.
The 8-1/3 inch blade was forged to shape. The hollow ground dagger shows dramatic twists and stars. The twisted pattern nicely reflected the fluted handle. The handle is carved from African blackwood. This extremely dense wood is so prized in South Africa that it is known as black ivory. The jet black wood is fluted and textured to dramatic effect. Antiqued bronze fittings are fileworked, textured and antiqued. A central lapis lazuli spacer adds contrast. The dagger is accompanied by an sheath made from leather and African blackwood. A lapis lazuli cabochon nicely balances the handle. Exceptional work throughout!
