Description: Tim Galyean is a young maker who lives in Newberg, Oregon. He has been making custom knives since early 2004, tracing his start in the industry back to 2001 when he went to work for Kershaw, fulfilling a lifelong love for knives. Inspired by the designs of his mentor, Ken Onion, Tim worked with him to learn the art of custom knife building and ever since has been working on finessing his designs and techniques.
The MOAB, or Mother Of All Blades, features ultra crisp lines and slick, futuristic styling and was featured on the cover of Blade Magazine's march '08 issue. It functions well, locks up like a bank vault, and has great ergonomics.
The blade features a stunning three-toned geometric puzzle-piece weld, incorporating a pewter toned bead blasted finish along the edge, a silver toned bead-blasted finish in the center, and a satin finish closest to the spine. Jimping at the base of the spine extends down in dramatic stripes along the walls of the blade - similar geometric jimping is visible on the flipper mechanism and the frame lock.
The substantial titanium handle has a lightness and maneuverability that is surprising for its size. The handle scale design features geometric sculpting enhanced by a two-toned finish -recessed areas are bead blasted while higher planes feature a satin finish. A deep choil ensures a comfortable, secure grip.
The titanium pocket clip is set for tip-up carry and features the MOAB logo. The action is gloriously smooth, easily opened using the flipper mechanism. The blade is perfectly centered with no wobble. Exceptional design and solid construction!
