Description: South African knifemaker, Andre Van Heerden, creates an amazing folder -- and at a price that could never be found from an American handmade knife.
The blade has been hollow ground with a graceful curved grind line. The grinds are hand satin finished with the flats mirror polished, so as to accentuate the graceful curve. The clip point blade is well centered and has a beautifully smooth action. The unique opening mechanism, invented by another South African maker, Andre Thorburn, is called a roll opening. This modification on a flipper opening is tremendously easy to use and won't catch when stored in the pocket. The blade is easily opened by running either the thumb or first finger along the textured 'roll' at the back of the blade. When combined with the IKBS ball bearing system, the action is exceptional!
Exhibition grade ironwood is inlaid into a titanium frame, keeping this knife light and fast. The ironwood has a beautiful high contrast grain. The gold tones of the anodized titanium liners complement the wood grain perfectly. The resulting handle will have excellent durability as a using knife, but will easily feel at home in a collection. A pocket clip mounted for tip up carry keeps the knife close at hand. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
