Description: Andre de Villiers' sturdy utility folders are a pleasure to use. The blade is formed from 19C27 stainless steel and has been hand-polished to a flawless satin finish. 19C27, which is in the same family as 12C27, is one of those rare steels that has exceptional edge holding and can be easily stropped from sort-of-dull to scary-sharp. The blade has smooth action and is perfectly centered. It features a "nightmare grind" which is both fascinating to look at and tremendously useful. The front section of the blade is designed for a puncturing, thrust, whereas the primary grind assures a keen, fine edge. A flipper opening mechanism assures quick deployment.
The scales are formed from durable G10 featuring a textured finish. G10 is a high-tech material that is not electrically conductive and doesn't shrink or move -- even in the harshest conditions. The textured finish means it is unlikely to slip, even if you're working with wet hands!
The liners have been jewel polished on the interior, and have a scalloped cut at both ends to avoid a slippery thumb grip. This pattern is repeated in the liner-cut lanyard hole, circles punched through the pocket clip, and a thumb stud that looks like an ascending stack of disks. Exceptional work throughout.
