Description: The Rotten Stick Misercordia is an exceptional art knife. It is hand forged, and engraved, and is styled after a rotting stick - complete with centipede and earwig insects scuttling along the surface.
Misercordia were medieval stabbing weapons, supposedly intended to provide "mercy" to seriously wounded friends and foes on the battlefield (misercordia is pity or mercy in Latin). Typically, these blades are diamond or triangular in cross section, without sharpened edges. Tom has chosen a diamond cross section. Not intended for slicing, they could easily slip between the cracks of armor.
The "rotten stick" handle was forged from black iron, then carved and engraved. A long centipede walks through the "rotten wood". An earwig scuttles the other direction. Tom's experience as a netsuke artist clearly shines through in this exciting piece. Textured and antiqued copper furniture is used throughout. The handle can be disassembled using the included tommy bar takedown wrench. Accompanied by a rawhide sheath with antiqued and copper furniture.
