Description: This majestic bowie is a collaborative effort between Journeyman Bladesmiths Michael Rader and John Davis along with David Lisch. The damascus blade was forged to by John Davis, then heat treated and finished by Michael Rader. The complex mosaic damascus guard was forged by David Lisch. With collaborative work from three exceptional makers, it is no surprise that this Bowie won Best of Show at the Northwest Knife Collectors Show in October, 2008.
This exceptional Cavalry Bowie was made in the fall of 2008. It has been in a single collection since it was first sold by BladeGallery and has been meticulously cared for. It is in mint condition and has never been used to cut.
The damascus blade shows off a complex pattern that is nicely highlighted by the long clip. The complexity of the damascus is complemented by the mosaic damascus S-guard. Michael brings a level of woodworking to knives that is rarely found elsewhere. Curly maple is surrounded by koa wood accents. Copper and black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath by Michael Rader.
Exceptional!
