Description: This Bill Burke utility knife is quite a find! It has been in a single private collection since it was made by Burke in December of 2007. It has been meticulously cared for and by all appearances, Burke could have made it yesterday.
The hand forged blade is formed from Bill's own san mai damascus. A high layer count ladder pattern damascus (forged from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels) surrounds a high performing 52100 carbon steel core. Like his Sheep Horn Hunters, this knife was pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treat follows the formulas developed by Bill in conjunction with Mastersmith Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher, and creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere.
A stainless steel guard separates the san mai blade from the desert ironwood handle. The handle has been well contoured to fit comfortably into the hand in a variety of holds. A distal taper to both blade and tang ensures a perfect sense of balance.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
