Description: Rick Eaton's knives are without comparison. The complex mosaic Damascus forms a mosaic backdrop for his engraving and inlay. In recent years, he has begun forging his own Damascus, and the result is captivating. Rick began by forging a Damascus pattern he calls Crusader Cross. By using the same Damascus on the blade and bolsters, but manipulating it differently, Rick is able to create a knife where the underlying textures perfectly interact.
Both scales have been meticulously engraved in Medieval style scroll. Rick is one of the few engravers in the United States to use the bulino style. This advanced technique takes considerably higher skill than standard engraving, but results in highly detailed, three dimensional shapes. The left side depictes highly complex images of crusaders on horseback. This is done in the line bulino technique and shows tremendous three dimentional shading. The reverse depicts a crusaders's shield and helm with a cross motif.
As you would expect, the dagger ground blade is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action. The blade is easily opened using the flipper style opener. The screws have all bee hand fileworked. 15N20 carbon steel liners have been heat blued to a bronze tone.
Exceptional work throughout.
