Description: During the Pleistocene epoch, which lasted from 1.5 million to 12,000 years ago, primitive horses were widespread and were abundant on both sides of the Atlantic. By the end of the last Ice Age about 12,000 to 15,000 years ago, many of the fossil species of horse had become extinct.
The handle of this exceptional stone bowie is made from the leg bone from a Pleistocene horse. The large (6 inch) blade is secured with hand twisted yucca cactus fiber wrap. The matt, black dacite blade shows off tremendous skill in flaking. Exceptional work with a terrific knife that will feel at home out in the field or in a collection.
