Description: Award winning Swedish bladesmith Henry Hildén held nothing back when he created this Swedish hunter. Five bars of complex mosaic Damascus were combined to form a highly detailed blade. The spine bars include pure nickel and iron for exceptional contrast. The heat colored firecracker edge is forged from ck 100 and 15N20 carbon steels for exceptional edge retention. The patterns are extremely clear and show tremendous control and skill. Henry's selection of metals allowed him to have bright silvers and blacks throughout the blade along with exceptional flashes of golds and reds on the firecracker edge. Sole authorship work is particularly rare among Nordic makers and Henry is among the best.
The handle is formed from cream toned ancient walrus ivory. The ivory carved for a comfortable, sure hand-hold. A central spacer is formed from Henry's mosaic damascus steel. This brings the weight toward the center of the knife. Ironwood spacers bring in deep warm tones. The butt is finished out with a Damascus steel pommel and turned gun blued steel pin. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
