Description: Bill Burke, who was honored as a journeyman smith June 2003, makes knives that are as high performance as hunters can get. He has worked hard to create Damascus knives that rival his 52100 carbon steel knives in edge holding and performance.
This gentleman's boot knife features a Damascus blade forged to shape by Bill from his own Firestorm Damascus. He chose to use 15N20 and 1095 carbon steels, resulting in an optimal carbon ratio for edge holding. Matching bolsters are forged from 15N20 and pure nickel for a high contrast effect. The bolsters have been dovetailed to perfectly match up to the fossil mammoth ivory bark scales (20,000 - 30,000 years old) with a full tang design for a very strong knife. The blade and tang have both been distal tapered for perfect balance. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
