Description: Australian born knifemaker Glenn Waters spent much of his adult life in Japan. His unique style combines Japanese and European aesthetics to create dramatic masterworks.
Water' one-of-a-kind, handmade art broach evokes the traditional Japanese instrument from which it gets its name. The shamisen (instrument) has a long, thin neck, and a box which resonates when its three strings are plucked.
The main body of the broach is created from 18k green gold. The neck is formed from Timascus. Timascus is forged from different grades of titanium, rather than steels. The resulting metal is very colorful when anodized, brining out gold and purple tones. Purple is reflected in a brilliant tourmaline and purple and green flashes in the large white opal. White tones in the opal are reflected in the brilliant 10pt diamond.
The broach measures approximately 1.1" across and 2.4" tall. The broach is accompanied by a storage case sewn from antique kimono fabric.
