Description: This bird and trout knife by bladesmith Raymond Richard has an sense of grace that is rarely found in knives. The upswept 52100 carbon steel blade has been antiqued. A differential heat treatment assures that the spine is soft and resilient, whereas the edge is hard and will maintain a keen edge. 52100 continues to be among my favorite steels. The low amount of chromium makes the blade easier to keep clean than some of the simple steels such as O1, while the resulting edge just doesn’t quit. An apple seed grind assures a very strong edge.
The elk antler handle is surrounded by African blackwood, one of the densest woods on the Earth. Elk provides a sure hand hold, whereas the hand stitched leather sheath assures that this bird and trout knife will be close at hand. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
