Description: Coming back from the Blade show with journeyman smith test knives is one of my great highlights of the year. Five knives are made by each applicant that are the height of their work. These knives were judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. This S-Guard Bowie was one of the five knives that John selected as the best of his work for judging by the masters.
The blade has been edge hardened and has a hand rubbed satin finish. The distinctive heat treatment line assures an extremely hard blade edge that will stay sharp well and a softer spine to support it. The Damascus steel guard has been nitre blued to purple and blue tones and has a distinctive Damascus pattern. This coloration is continued on the butt cap. The fossil walrus ivory handle is burnt cream toned and has caramel sections. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
