Description: Lonnie's Curly Maple Arrowhead Spike Tomahawk is traditional in style and well executed. The synthetic sinew gives an excellent grip for using the hammer. Pewter accents are poured directly into wood and then finished. The curly maple handle is well figured and very dramatic.
This among the first hawks that Lonnie has forged using 5160 rather than 52100. He has chosen to make some of his hawks with this steel due to the increased durability of the edge. A hawk made from 5160 will hold up well under heavy use. The head length is 9 2/3" and the cutting edge is 3 2/3". This piece is very sturdy and well weighted for chopping as well as hammering. Lonnie has increased the size of the pewter end cap on this one, as well as arched to connection between the cap and the haft. The result is dramatic to look at and pulls the weight into the handle.
