Description: John Fraps is an up and coming maker that I am watching with tremendous interest. His designs are well orchestrated and implemented and he has embraced new materials such as Timascus. Timascus is a material that is quickly hitting the knife market with a vengeance. Created by a group which includes Tom Ferry, Timascus is a very light and durable "Damascus" created by forging different grades of Titanium rather than steels.
The blade is perfectly centered and the action excellent. The thumbstud is fileworked 416 Stainless Steel inset with a blue cut sapphire. The titanium liners are jewel polished on the interior and are fully fileworked and heat colored blue to compliment bolsters. The back spacer is fully fileworked and buffed to silver, complimenting the bolsters and blade. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
