Description: When I recently visited Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey, I was very pleased to see they had some of their knives available. Kevin and Heather teach bladesmithing courses, with students travelling from all over the world to learn their techniques. Kevin uses the Heavin Forge mark on his knives when he creates a knife while demonstrating for his classes. This is one such knife.
The blade is hand forged 5160 carbon steel with an antique finish. 5160 carbon steel is tough, chip resistant, and maintains a razor sharp edge. It is an excellent choice for hard use knives. The blade is flat ground and razor sharp. We recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and natural wood handle.
Cocobolo handle scales sourced from Costa Rica are set on the full tang using brass pins. The hand contoured handle provides a comfortable grip with no hot spots.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched and tooled pouch style leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
