Description: Francois Massyn started making knives in 1989 and with the help of renowned knifemaker Fanie la Grange, he joined the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa in 1990. He currently focuses his work on IKBS flippers and developed his skills with the help of Andre Thorburn. Lately he has also been making some high quality slipjoint folders.
The blades on this slipjoint are hand ground N690 stainless steel. Bohler N690 ensures a keen, long-lasting edge with good resistance to chipping. It is a great choice for high performance, hard use knives. Both blades measure approximately 1-3/4 inches long and can be opened using a nail nick.
Tamboti handle scales are set on the stainless steel frame using stainless steel pins. A stainless steel escutcheon is inlaid on the left side of the blade. Red fiber liners will help the natural wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The handle is finished with satin finished front and rear stainless steel bolsters.
A hand stitched leather pocket slip is included to protect the knife.
Nice work throughout!
