Description: Richard Bruce (R.L. Bruce) is a custom knifemaker from Yankee Hill, California. Richard has always enjoyed working with his hands and dreamed of working from home. Now, ‘in retirement,’ Bruce is getting to do both making custom knives. He makes the entire knife and sheath from scratch. He makes old school style knives from Randall-inspired fighters to knives like this Marbles-inspired bird and trout. This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in near mint condition and by all appearances, it could have been made yesterday!
The upswept blade is O-1 carbon steel to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The blade features a convex grind and a hand rubbed satin finish. An upswept, jimped ramp provides excellent thumb purchase. Bruce's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle features stacked leather washers with a stag pommel, commonly seen in vintage Marbles knives. Alternating red, black, and brass spacers surround the stacked leather column. The handle is finished with a polished brass guard. At only 2 ounces, this knife will be easy to keep close at hand.
For easy carry, a leather custom sheath is included. A small honing rod to touch up the edge while out in the field is included as well.
Nice work throughout!
