Description: Chris Owen has a tremendous attention to detail and it shows on this exquisite mammoth ivory folder. Chris builds his knives by hand, forgests his own damascus, and believes heavily in sole authorship work. Finding a maker with such exceptional fit and finish at this price point is extremely rare!
Chris forged the feather pattern damascus blade from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels, ensuring excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The complex pattern immediately grabs attention. We recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade and mammoth ivory handle.
The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth, consistant action. The blade rotates on washers and can be deployed easily using the right-handed thumbstud.
Anodized titanium liners are fileworked in a vine pattern and surround the damascus backbar. Matching feather damascus bolsters and mammoth ivory bark scales are precision fit to each other. The ancient mammoth ivory is well matched in cream and coffee tones. These colors move into the ivory while it is buried in permafrost for thousands of years. The presentation grade ivory is from the outer bark of the tusk.
Exceptional work throughout on a maker to watch!
