Description: Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey teach bladesmithing courses, with students travelling from all over the world to learn their techniques. Kevin uses the Heavin Forge mark on his knives when he creates a knife while demonstrating for his classes. This is one such knife.
The drop point blade on this Forged Camp Knife is 5160 carbon steel. It was forged closely to shape, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. 5160 has excellent edge holding and chip resistance while maintaining high toughness and resistance to breakage. The Heavin Forge mark is set on the left side of the blade.
The handle is African snake bean (Bobgunnia Madagascariensis) wood. The handle is nicely fit to and end cap of South African red bushwillow (Combretum apiculatum). The handle swells at the palm and is contoured to provide a comfortable, non-slip grip. Red and white fiber liners will help the natural wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The handle is finished with a polished brass bolsters and a warthog tusk screw covering.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled leather custom sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
