Description: Audra Draper was the first woman to attain the ABS Mastersmith ranking back in 2000. Many of her techniques were acquired through studying with Mastwersmith Ed Fowler and often her pieces reflect his style with her own innovations and talents incorporated into each piece. This Subhilt Damascus Hunter is a perfect example of her aesthetic. This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, Audra could have made it yesterday!
The drop point blade is Audra's own damascus, forged from 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The bold pattern is extremely engaging. A differential heat treatment separates the ultra-hard cutting edge from a soft and supportive spine. The spine and ricasso are nicely rounded for comfort when choking up on the blade. Audra's maker mark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle combines buffalo horn with turquoise spacers. The polished brass guard and sub hilt create perfect balance in hand. The contoured finger grooves create a slip-resistant, comfortable grip.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched pouch style leather custom sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
