Description: This exceptional Damascus Bowie was forged by Mastersmith Shayne Carter. Shayne is a Certified Journeyman Farrier and became an ABS Mastersmith in 2019. In 1984, Shayne was the first American to win the World Champion Blacksmith Competition (WCBC) held in conjunction with the Calgary Stampede. Shayne is still the youngest participant to win the WCBC title (at age 23). Over the years, Shayne has been very active in competitions, winning spots on the American Farriers Team in 1986,1988,1990,1993, 1997, and 1998. He travels all over the world teaching horseshoeing skills, blacksmithing, and knife and tool making. In 1998, Shayne received the Jim Linzy Outstanding Clinician Award. In 2000, Shayne was voted Farrier Industry Legend. This was awarded to the top 25 most influential contributors to the farrier industry. In 2003 Shayne was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame. Shayne’s knives have become well-known for their exceptional functionality and beautiful designs. He competed in and won (twice!) the popular show Forged in Fire in season three. He is an exceptional blacksmith and bladesmith.
Given the exceptional level of work, it is perhaps no surprise that this knife won Best Damascus at 2021 Blade Show in Atlanta, GA.
The clip point blade is Shayne's own fireworks pattern mosaic damascus, forged from carbon steels to provide a keen, long lasting edge. The complex pattern shows Shayne's tremendous skill at the forge. His maker mark is on the left side of the blade and his M.S. mark on the right.
The handle features frame construction. Presentation grade whitelip mother of pearl handle scales surrounded a Twist damascus frame. The scales are secured using five hand domed pins. The guard and spacer are also a matching Twist damascus that elegantly complements both the blade and frame.
Exceptional work throughout!. This is sure to be a centerpiece of any collection!
