Description: This dramatic bowie is the work of Andrew Blomfield. Andrew hails from New South Wales, Australia and became an American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith in June 2022. I was tremendously excited when I was introduced to his work by fellow countryman Bruce Barnett. Blomfield brings a level of skill that is extremely rare, as shown in this sole-authorship bowie.
Andrew forged the mosaic damascus blade from carbon steels. It is a pattern he calls "wandering crosses". The damascus combines fine and bold patterns into an extremely engaging blade.
The guard and sub-hilt are formed from one single piece of blackened mild steel. They feature deep relief sculpted engraving - also by Blomfield. The reverse keyhole ironwood handle is extremely enticing and can be examined for hours at a time. Showing tremendous attention to detail, this knife can be disassembled if cleaning, maintenance, or repair is ever needed. It is accompanied by a custom tool for disassembly.
This Reverse Keyhole Sub-Hilt Bowie is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath featuring stingray inlay.
Masterful work throughout!
