Description: South African knifemaker George Muller makes an exceptionally dramatic knife -- and at a price that would never be found from a US maker. Visiting with Muller during my trips to South Africa is always a highlight. The colors, textures and style of this knife all work perfectly together.
The blade is hand ground N690 stainless steel, with a Rockwell hardness of 59. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Handle scales are ancient woolly mammoth ivory. The colors in the ivory develop as minerals in surrounding soil move into the ivory across thousands of years. For strength and durability, the scales are set on a distal tapered full tang using mosaic pins. The scales are dovetailed to polished 303 stainless steel bolsters.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched cape buffalo hide sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
