Description: I have long been a fan of Roger Bergh's work. His control over damascus and his skill at combining exotic materials set him apart as an artist. This stunning hunting knife combines an elegant damascus blade with a combination of beautiful ivory. This elegant hunter was in a private collection and is in new condition.
The damascus blade is hand forged from a multi-bar composite made from 20C and 15n20 carbon steels. An explosion damascus pattern at the edge and spine is particularly dramatic. Roger's mark is stamped into the right side of the blade.
The handle is formed from a spectacular piece of ancient woolly mammoth ivory. The elegant blue tones develop as minerals from the ground where the ivory was buried moved into the ivory across thousands of years. Blue toned ivory is among the most desirable ivory around. The handle meets perfectly with a sculpted cream toned mammoth ivory bolster. A lanyard hole sculpted from ancient walrus ivory is included in the rear. The compact handle feels great in the hand, but would disappear when being worn on a belt.
This knife is accompanied by a hand tooled traditional Swedish single seam leather sheath by Bergh.
Excellent work throughout!
