Description: Mastersmith Bill Burke creates knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. Among Burke's accomplishments is the wide range of knives that he creates. Whether making a chef's knife, a hunter, or a folder, his work is truly exceptional.
The blade is hand satin finished premium CPM-154 stainless steel that is heat treated to Hrc 60-61 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! The blade is perfectly centered with smooth, consistent action and a firm half stop.
Handle scales are presentation grade mammoth ivory set to liners using 14k gold pins. Blue, brown and cream tones are combined throughout the ivory. These colors moved into the ivory from surrounding soils while being buried across thousands of years. Blue tones are particularly rare and desirable. A 24K gold escutcheon shield is perfectly inlaid into the left show side scale. The scales are perfectly fit to 416 stainless steel bolsters. The handle measures in at 3.6 inches when closed.
Excellent work throughout!
