Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing folder. He has worked extensively with Mastersmith Bill Burke and Bill Ruple. He is a tremendous smith at the forge and his attention to detail really shows through in his slip joint folders.
The liner lock folder combines finely detailed mosaic damascus with presentation grade mammoth ivory. The high contrast pattern looks great from a distance, yet reveals further intricacies upon closer examination. The blade has smooth, drop shut action and is perfectly centered.
Handle scales are formed from presentation grade woolly mammoth ivory. Colors in the ivory develop across thousands of years as minerals travel into the ancient ivory from surrounding soil. Screws throughout are heat colored and fileworked. The backbar is hand engraved in a running wheat pattern. Liners are textured and nitre blued.
Exceptional work throughout!
