Description: Minnesota bladesmith Cody Hofsommer has had a passion for knifemaking since he was young. He started learning the art of blacksmithing in 2003 and has hand-forged many knives over the years. His goal is to make a quality piece of art that can also be a practical useful tool. He received his journeyman certification through the American Bladesmith Society in 2018. He competed on History Channel's show, Forged in Fire and was named champion after making a damascus pattern Spanish Conquistador sword (season 7 episode 18, aired January 22, 2020). We met Cody at the 2021 Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia and were immediately blown away by his exceptional quality of work. His custom knives are some of the most refined you will ever encounter. We're keeping a close eye on Cody and expect him to become one of the 'greats'.
The 100 layer ladder pattern damascus blade has nice contrast. The blade is forged to shape and culminates in a perfectly symmetrical ricasso. The left ricasso features his makers mark. The right side denotes JS for Journeyman Smith.
The presentation grade stabilized black ash burl handle is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. The stacked guard combines bronze with stippled steel.
Exceptional work throughout!
