Description: Chris Sharp is based out of Florida and is well known for his high quality slipjoint knives. His fit and finish tolerances rival some of the best traditional knifemakers anywhere. This Lanny's Clip with Redwood Burl shows Sharp's high attention for small details and features his patent pending see-through escutcheon (which is really cool!).
The Lanny's Clip design was developed by renowned folder maker Tony Bose for his friend Lanny Shell from Tennessee. Lanny saw the knife and bought the first ten that Tony produced. Lanny's Clip is now an iconic design and is a favorite in the slip joint community.
The clip point blade is formed from Sharp's own mosaic damascus, combining 1075 and 15n20 carbon steels. The highly detailed mosaic pattern shows his skills at the forge and is extremely engaging. The blade can be easily opened using the nail nick on the left side of the blade. The blade is perfectly centered and has smooth, consistent action with a half stop.
Handle scales are a beautiful selecton of stabilized lace redwood burl. Sharp's patent-pending see-through escutcheon is inlaid into both sides of handle. Scales are fit perfectly to 416 stainless steel bolsters and liners. Showing an exceptional level of craftsman, the bolster and escutcheon are integral to the liner -- made from one single piece of steel. While requiring an higher level of craftsmanship, this results in superior durability and integrity. The slipjoint spring is formed from CPM-154 stainless steel.
Excellent work throughout!
