Description: Over the years, Mastersmith Bill Burke has become well known for making knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. Each knife is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. This exceptional hunting knife has been cherished in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and by all appearances, Burke could have made it yesterday.
Burke's heat treatment follows the formulas developed in conjunction with Mastersmith Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher. This time consuming technique creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere.
The recurve blade was hand forged from 52100 carbon steel and features a differential heat treatment, for a hard cutting edge and a soft, supportive spine. By forging in a very narrow temperature range, Burke ensures the best edge holding possible.
Arizona desert ironwood handle scales are set on a distal tapered full tang for strength and durability. The handle is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip, swelling at the center and end of the handle. The brass guard brings the weight to the center of the knife.
This knife is accompanied by a hand sewn pouch style leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
