Description: Jim Siska is a native New Englander that has been building beautiful custom knives since the early 80s. His clean, crisp style, with his unique, flowing designs and recognizable meticulous grinds is immediately identifiable. He was on the board of directors for the North East Cutlery Collectors Association (NCCA) and was a voting member of the Knifemakers Guild. Siska is now semi-retired and makes very few knives each year. This Clip Point Hunter has been in a private collection since it was made in 1996. It has been meticulosly cared for and has not been used or carried. By all appearances, Siska could have made it yesterday.
The clip point, recurve hunter blade was hand ground from ATS-34 stainless steel. The swedge is brought just shy of a fully sharpened edge. The cutting edge is razor sharp. Filework along the spine and knurling at the top of the guard provide a secure thumb purchase when choking up for detail work.
A polished stainless steel pommel and guard surround the stabilized thuya burl handle. It is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip, even when used for hours at a time. You won't want to put this knife down! The pommel culminates in a thong hole.
Accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout.
