Description: Mastersmith Bill Burke creates knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. He is best known for his sheep horn hunting knives and chef's knives. Here, he has put his hands to an exquisitely elegant slip joint folder.
Like his hunters, the blade was pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treatment and tempering follow the formulas developed in conjunction with Mastersmith Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher, and creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. The blade is formed from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and knife collectors find to produce the best and longest lasting edges. The blade is perfectly centered with smooth, consistent action and a firm half stop.
The scales are presentation sambar stag. The scales are perfectly fit to the 416 front and rear bolsters and are secured with stainless steel hand domed pins. Bill's maker's mark (BTB) is hand engraved on the interior of the backbar.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
