Description: Kaj Embretsen's work has a meticulous precision not found anywhere else. Regrettably, it has become increasingly rare in the US and I was exceptionally pleased to recently have him offer us some of his knives.
This utility knife is exceptional. It could easily be a daily carry, but would also be comfortable in nearly any collection.
The hand forged blade is formed from high performing Swedish 1870 carbon steel. 1870 is a simple carbon steel with a keen, long lasting edge. The hollow ground blade is nicely polished. The Embretsen maker's mark is on the left ricasso.
The handle is made from a solid piece of wenge (Millettia laurentii). This solid black, dense hardwood creates a perfect handle. It is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. The wood's natural variation in hardness results in a nice texture. An antiqued bronze ferrule separates the blade from handle, bringing warm tones out from the wood.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish leather sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
