Description: Jim Ence is well known for creating knives with meticulous perfection. Jim was an Art invitational knifemaker and considered one of the top ten knifemakers in the world in his prime. Jim's work has been compared to the craftsmanship of his life-long friend and neighbor, legendary knifemaker Buster Warenski. Regrettably, Ence passed away in December of 2010 at 69 years old. This boot dagger is a quintessential example of his work. It has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. Despite the age of this piece, it appears to be in near mint condition. The blade shows very light wear from going in and out of its sheath.
The blade was perfectly ground from ATS-34 stainless steel. It features Jim's meticulous hollow ground mirror polish. The ricasso is marked JF Ence, Richfield, UT
Ancient walrus ivory handle scales are set on the distal tapered full tang. They are set against nickel silver bolsters that has been deeply engraved by Ence.
The boot knife is accompanied by a custom felt lined nickel silver sheath. An ancient walrus ivory escutcheon is set on the precision formed sheath.
Exceptional work throughout. This is a piece of history!
