Description: John Young is one of the hottest custom knifemakers in the world. His wait time for a custom piece is 4-6 years. His knack for creating distinctive and beautiful blades puts him in world class company. Each knife made by Young meets the exacting standards and superior workmanship of a master craftsman. From the tip of the blade to the end of the hilt, there is no room for compromise in the quality of materials or the care taken to create each work of art. This Drop Point Hunter was made in 2009 for the California Custom Knife Show. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, Young could have made it yesterday.
The blade is formed from premium CMP-154 stainless steel. It is hollow ground and mirror polished. The left side features the "J Young Ephraim UT" mark. The right side is marked "CCKS 2009" (California Custom Knife Show). The spine is marked "001".
The handle is comprised of stacked leather washers with Micarta front and rear spacers. Polished stainless steel front and rear guards brings weight back into the handle.
The knife is accompanied by the original hand stitched pouch style leather sheath.
This hunter is an impeccable example of John Young's work. It is a very rare find -- one of very few knives made by Young with stacked leather handles.
