Description: Mastersmith Mike Vagnino began his journey into knifemaking back in 1995 starting with a forging class from Karl Shroen. He continued his training under the watchful eye of Mastersmith Tim Hancock. He received his journeyman smith rating in 2001 and his Mastersmith rating in 2003. He strives to build beautiful folding art knives that inspire the mind as well as being high performance working knives built for daily carry.
This linerlock folder is a perfect example of Mike's skill at knifemaking. The action is smooth and has perfect lockup. The keyhole bolster provides an elegant focal point you are sure to enjoy!
The sheepsfoot blade is formed from Mike's own damascus. The intricate mosaic pattern is exceptional and will have you staring at it for hours. The blade is flat ground and has a choil to allow choking up for more delicate cutting tasks. The spine has been crowned for comfort. It can be easily deployed using the ambidextrous flipper tab. The perfectly centered blade rotates on bearings and has smooth action.
The handle combines exhibition grade snakewood (Brosimum guianensei) with engraved stainless steel bolsters. Snakewood is so called for its characteristic snakeskin pattern. The reddish brown wood has contrasting darker brown patches. The bolsters are keyhole fit to the handle scales and have been hand engraved in a running wheat pattern by Vagnino. Stainless steel liners surround a free floating satin finished backbar. The liners have been jewel polished on the interior.
Excellent work throughout!
