Description: P-O Eklund is one of the masters of the Sami styled knife and regularly receives awards in the Swedish Championships. Seeing his work, it is no surprise.
This knife is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. The blade was hand ground by Robert Mattsson. At Hrc 61, the Elmax blade will have exceptional edge. ELMAX provides the extreme edge retention, high strength, and toughness a hard-use knife demands. High wear resistance in a steel usually means low corrosion resistance, but not with ELMAX. With this advanced steel, you get both properties.
The handle is very traditional and has a slim oval shape that fits comfortably and securely in the hand. The reindeer antler is polished to bring out natural variations in color. The traditional Sami patterns on the sheath and handle are not scrimshaw, but hand engraving, darkened with alder bark powder. The engraving is very detailed, showing tremendous skill in implementation. A central sallow root spacer and end cap provide a nice contrast.
The matching sheath combines reindeer antler with a reindeer leather upper. The knife and sheath are accompanied by a reindeer leather storage pouch.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
