Description: This one-of-a-kind folder was handmade by renowned South African knifemaker Neels Roos. It is a tremendously elegant knife with terrific fit and finish throughout! The combination of South African Verdite, highly controlled mosaic damascus and Damasteel set this apart as a truly unique and exceptional folder.
The drop point blade was hand ground from Hakkapella pattern stainless damascus by Damasteel. At 60 Hrc, it is sure to have a keen, long lasting edge. The hollow ground blade is well centered with smooth action. It is easily flicked out with the inobtrusive front flipper tab. With a little practice, the front flipper can be easily used with either your forefinger or thumb.
Green verdite handle scales meet with gun blued mosaic damascus bolsters. The mosaic damascus for the bolsters was forged by Ettore Gianferrari. The mosaic pattern is intricate and highly controlled. Gianferrari is considered among the best damascus makers in the world and is regrettably very close to retirement. Also knows as "African jade" and "African green gold," Verdite is an emerald-looking stone with brown inclusions. It is an extremely hard stone, such that even experienced sculptors hesitate to carve it. This semi-precious stone and is mined as a by-product of corundum and has become very hard to find. Verdite has a hardness of 8.5-9.2 on the Mohs hardness scale. Blue/purple anodized grade 5 titanium liners surround an N690 stainless steel backbar. The backbar is etched.
Exceptional work throughout!
