Description: Lourens Prinsloo made his first knife in 1996, shortly after attending a knifemaking course with Owen Wood. In 1998 he became a member of the Knifemakers' Guild of Southern Africa. Prior to his retirement in 2016, Lourens taught engineering, graphic design, woodworking, and metalwork. This variety of experience helped him tackle the challenges that exist with creating high performing folders that are beautiful as well as functional. His main focus is making gentleman's folding knives, specifically liner locks, designed to be carried and used.
The 2.2 inch sheepsfoot blade is formed from premium Bohler ELMAX stainless steel, with a Rockwell hardness of 61. ELMAX provides the extreme edge retention, high strength, and toughness a hard-use knife demands. High wear resistance in a steel usually means low corrosion resistance, but not with ELMAX. With this advanced steel, you get both properties.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the right handed thumb stud.
Marble carbon fiber scales are set on titanium liners for a light, yet strong knife. The scales are nicely contoured ensuring a secure, comfortable grip. At just 2.4oz, it is easy to keep this knife close at hand.
Excellent work throughout!
